The Shimano Torium range of overhead reels are high speed overheads that are built for tough saltwater fishing. The range comes in five sizes ranging from a smaller 14 model right up to the larger 50 size.


The Torium 14 holds 274 metres of 6kg nylon monofilament, giving it a terrific braid capacity, while a 6.2:1 gear ratio means it really performs with metal casting lures and jigging. A casting pedigree means that it could be used from the shore or a boat.


The Torium 50 holds 448 metres of 18kg line. It is also an amazingly sweet casting reel for such a big unit and is ideal for slinging big live baits off breakwalls for jewfish, or kingfish off the rocks, and in deepwater using braided lines for everything from Snapper and Gummy Sharks to deep water bottom fish like Blue Eye Trevalla.
The Torium 16, 20 and 30 are high-speed overheads ideal for pelagics, jigging, or where the ability to recover line in a hurry is important. With a 6.2:1 gear ratio they will bring out the best in metal jigs and lures that require a good turn of speed to get working, while an oversize clicker mechanism means that this reel can also be used for bait fishing. The multi-washer star drag makes use of high performance Dartainium washers, so the Toriums can cope with the fastest runs from any pelagic.
