The Shimano Chronarch has seen a decade of amazing development and refinement that has ultimately culminated in the release of outstanding Chronarch E series of baitcaster reels.

The modern generation’s smooth feel is enhanced by the presence of no fewer than seven bearings — six A-RB ball bearing and one stainless steel roller bearing — while the Dartanium II Cross Carbon drag has a wide range, capable of fishing a variety of line breaking strains (both mono and braid) without over-stressing the High Efficiency Gearing (HEG).

The single piece frame is made from aluminium and the Magnumlite spool is drilled for additional weight saving and freer movement (give it a spin and watch it roll — and roll!). The Variable Braking System (VBS), which is accessed by a turn key mechanism on the sideplate, means even newcomers to baitcaster use can be casting like a pro in no time flat. This was the first Shimano baitcaster to incorporate this easy-to-use system, and it’s certainly become a popular feature.

Spare casting blocks, a cloth bag and a spanner/screwdriver combo tool are also standard extras, plus there are two left-handed reels for southpaws and a choice of four retrieve speeds from 5.5:1 to 7:1 depending on the model.
