| Paladin Gear Durability Enhancement |
Using a special cold forged aluminum drive gear and a hardened brass pinion gear, reels equipped with the Paladin Gear Durability Enhancement will retain out their out-of-the-box smoothness much longer than before. In fact, testing has shown that this combination of metals is more durable than an all-stainless steel drivetrain while maintaining the smoothness that Shimano is famous for.

| Propulsion Line Management System |
The Propulsion Line Management System provides the angler with longer casts with less effort, while drastically reducing the chance of backlash, wind knots or tangles.
| Positive Bail |
There’s never any danger of your bail arm snapping shut on the cast thanks to Shimano’s ingenious Positive Bail feature.
| Power Roller |
Shimano’s Power Roller dramatically reduces line twist, prolonging the useful life of your reel line and improving casting performance.
| Power Roller III |
The oversized Power Roller III line roller is specially grooved to reduce twists caused by repetitive casting and retrieving, and its large diameter assists in reducing friction and line memory.
| Quickfire |
Quickfire permits easy and fast one-handed casts. The line and trigger self-centre, placing them within easy grasp of the angler's index finger.
| Roller Bearing |
The Shimano designed Roller Bearing is massive in size, filling up the entire rotor compared to smaller bearings used in other spinning reels. Its size accounts for its strength and reliability, hookset after hookset.
| S-Arm Cam |
A protruding surface on the bail arm keeps slack line in contact with the line roller to reduce the chance of tangles and line cuts.
| Shimano Balance Lock (SBL) |
SBL eliminates the free play between forward and reverse in your reel handle – totally. Bobbins/quivertips can be set with absolute precision and less fish are bumped on the strike because the drag kicks in immediately after setting the hook.

| S-Concept |
Shimano's three basic principles inherent in the S-Concept are Smooth, Silent and Strong.
| SR-Concept |
The SR-Concept combines the new concept of Reliance with all aspects of the S-Concept.
| SR-Bail |
The SR One Piece Bail Wire was first introduced on the Stella FB and allows the line to travel unimpeded to the line roller. Its seamless design reduces friction and reduces the chance of tangles or cuts to the bail arm.

| S-Drag |
Features carbon washers for smooth even performance on the hardest of drag settings, totally reliable and exceedingly durable for long-term heavy-duty use.
| S-Guard |
Specially designed guards are attached to the rotor and the body, which prevent the accumulation of water and also give added protection against accidental bumps and knocks.
| S-Master Gear |
Cold forged from A7075 Super Duraluminium (aircraft grade alloy) this key component has incredible strength but with a massive weight reduction. The versions on the Stella reels are coated with a layer of Black Almite, a microscopic thin ceramic coating that provides a hardened corrosion resistance surface for extreme use.

| Shimano Smooth Cast (SSC) |
SSC is a system designed to improve line lay, reduce tangles, improve casting potential and aid fishing with light tackle.
| S-Spool |
S-System spools are cold forged from aluminium alloy. The cold forging process creates a lightweight spool with increased structural strength. The addition of a spool ring, made from titanium-coated zirconia, which is ten times harder than stainless steel, gives the lip added resistance to abrasion and damage.

| Super Slow Oscillation |
On reels that incorporate this revolutionary feature, the oscillation system has been adjusted to a fraction of the speed of previous models. Line is laid onto the spool in close, parallel coils and the bedding in of line is minimised. The result is that less energy is lost as the line peels off the spool, which can make even greater casting distance and accuracy a reality.

| Star Drag |
Shimano’s Star Drag reels are used in applications where exceptional free spool and/or cast-ability are the primary concern. Star drags use several smaller drag washers against the gear, which allows for unparalleled free spool. Star drags typically also have higher gear ratios allowing for a faster retrieve.
| Super Free |
Super Free System eliminates friction on the spool shaft during casting. the pinion gear is supported by a ball bearing, so when the clutch is disengaged the pinion gear and spool shaft remain in perfect alignment. This results in zero friction on the spool shaft.
| Super Stopper II |
With the reel set in anti-reverse mode you’ll find zero free-play on the handle thanks to Super Stopper II. Unerringly positive every time, its practical benefits include micro incremental settings of quiver tips or specialist bite indicators and faster hook setting.
| Variable Brake System (VBS) |
VBS uses centrifugal force rather than magnets to aid in controlling the cast. When turned on, the individual brake weights are forced outward at the beginning of the cast when backlashes most often occur, causing friction that reduces the speed of the spool. Once the spool speed begins to slow, the pressure with which the brake weights contact the raceway lessens, allowing the spool to continue spinning. The result is a much more consistent spool speed that is easier to manage and takes advantage of the reel’s maximum casting distance. Settings range from zero weights turned on for true freespool or up to 6 weights turned on for extremely windy conditions and maximum cast control

| Wiffle Spool |
A drilled Wiffle Spool cuts down on start-up inertia and is designed for anglers who are looking for distance in their casting.
| WP Drag (Waterproof Drag) |
The drag is sealed with rubber gaskets to prevent water intrusion to provide smooth drag performance time and time again.
