Shimano has developed new Deore XT and Deore LX Rapidfire Plus shifters, based on proven technology but with an innovative technology named Two–Way Release. The original Rapidfire shifting system was introduced sixteen years ago in the first XTR group. Over the years, this technology has earned its credits and is still very popular.
The new Rapidfire Plus shifters feature Two-Way Release technology. It allows the release (index finger) lever to be operated in two directions resulting in the same shift action. This way it offers two shift options. First of all the traditional Rapidfire shifting system with thumb and index finger (push-pull) and secondly the option to shift exclusively with the thumb (push-push).
The Deore XT shifters (SL-M760) have been developed using multiple bearings for both left and right hand side. Both shifters have an optical gear indicator and are compatible with all Shimano’s 9-speed rear derailleur drivetrains. Shimano recommends SP41 sealed outer casings for superior shifting performance.
Top-Normal rear derailleurs Also new Top-Normal rear derailleurs will be available for Deore XT (RD-M761) and Deore LX (RD-M581). They have a fresh new design and wide link technology for extra rigidity. Both are available in two cage lengths and the tension pulley of the RD-M761 features additionally sealed bearings.
The introduction of these additional products means an important upgrade of Shimano’s Deore XT and Deore LX groups. The combination of wider choice and improved performance will for sure attract a large group of mountain bike enthusiasts.
